Installing the 1976 Cadillac 500 and TH400 transmission proved to be a big task. While these engines arenít heavy compared to other big blocks they are physically large and the oil and fuel pumps pose some clearance problems with the front cross member on this frame. The engine is a pretty tight fit all around.
The oil pan for the 76 chassis is a front sump design and will not work in the 57 frame. I swapped it out for a 1978 425 pan that has a mid sump. Front sump on top mid sump on bottom. The steering just touched this pan at full lock so I "C" notched the front of the sump with a piece of 1.75" round tubing.
